Kent Food Hubs Gears Up for a Greener Future with Folkestone and Hythe District Council Funding

At Kent Food Hubs, we are thrilled to share some exciting news with our community!
Thanks to the unwavering support of Folkestone and Hythe District Council, we've taken a significant step towards a more sustainable future. Co-directors Beckie and Ed (Rebel Farmer) did the joint funding bid and had the privilege of representing our organization at the Sustainable Features Forum event, and the outcome has been nothing short of remarkable.

Folkestone and Hythe District Council has recognized our commitment to sustainable practices and our dedication to supporting local producers across Kent. They've demonstrated their support by awarding us funding that has been instrumental in achieving our vision of a greener and more environmentally friendly future.

So, what exactly is this funding being used for? We are proud to announce that we've used it to acquire an electric van that will revolutionize the way we operate. This electric van isn't just any vehicle; it's a symbol of our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint and making eco-conscious choices.

Here's how this electric van is going to make a positive impact:

  1. Low Carbon Pick-Up: With our new electric van, we can now offer low carbon pick-up services for produce from all corners of Kent. This means we can support even more local producers who share our passion for sustainability. By reducing the emissions associated with transportation, we're taking a significant step towards a greener and cleaner environment.
  2.  Expanded Product Range: The ability to pick up produce from a wider geographical area means that we can diversify our product range on the hub. This is fantastic news for our customers who will soon have access to an even greater variety of fresh, local, and sustainable products.
  3.  Folkestone Delivery Service: In addition to supporting local producers, our electric van will also play a crucial role in delivering customer orders throughout Folkestone. This means faster and more efficient delivery services for our loyal customers in the Folkestone area.

Our partnership with Folkestone and Hythe District Council is a testament to what can be achieved when communities come together to support sustainable initiatives. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Folkestone and Hythe District Council for their belief in our mission and their generous funding.

As we drive forward into this exciting new chapter, we invite you to join us on our journey towards a more sustainable future. Together, we can continue to support local producers, reduce our carbon footprint, and make a positive impact on the environment.

Stay tuned for more updates as we put our new electric van into action and work towards building a greener and more sustainable food hub for Kent. Thank you for being a part of the Kent Food Hubs community!

Thanks to The Coastal Printing Co for Branding up our new wheels, and to Katy and the Bear for the amazing design work.
