Kent Food Hubs CIC are committed to providing a safe, welcoming and inclusive space that is well organised with open communication to grow and support your small businesses.
We ask that you present a positive image of the market and to treatcustomers, fellow traders and the KFH staff with courtesy at all times.
By booking a pitch online with Kent Food Hubs CIC you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions of our market.
Trading hours
Regular market trading hours are 10am - 2pm unless advised otherwise for additional special events. Please have your stall set up by the 10am opening time and do not pack up early unless it has been approved by the market manager - our customers deserve to shop a full market within the advertised trading hours.
Cancellations and Refunds
Pitch fees are non-refundable or transferrable.
In the unlikely event that weather conditions are too extreme for the market to run, we will issue a partial refund, less £5 of the original fee to go towards admin costs e.g you will receive £20 of the £25.
Your Pitch and products
• A minimum of 90% of the items sold on your stall must be handmade or designed by you (or your business) and only up to 10% may be wholesale or bought-in goods. Exceptions like Natural dog treats, Olives, Local Craft Beer etc. will apply and will be up to Kent Food Hubs CIC's discretion (we reserve the right to ask you to remove items).
• All traders must display a sign showing their business name and offer a receipt or a business card in case a customer needs to contact you after a purchase or order.
• Food traders must be registered with the local authority and display their food hygiene rating at all times.
• Alcohol traders must have a valid TENS the relevant council and display the challenge 25 signage.
• You must have valid PLI (Public liability insurance).
• Liability due to products, display & BYO gazebos lies with you, the stall holder.
• The size of our pitches are 3m x 3m. If you are bringing your own gazebo or food trailer and it is bigger than 3m x 3m this needs to be discussed with the market manger BEFORE booking to see if we can accommodate you.
• Tables or other display items are not provided, please bring your own.
• Any products or display items must stay inside the boundary of your pitch and you create a safe space for customers.
• Please only bring products that have been approved by the market manager on application. If you are an existing trader, any new products must be approved by us before selling them at our markets.
• Anything you sell must meet with trading standards, relevant CLP/food safety/hygiene certificates and Natasha’s law labelling etc. We reserve the right to refuse any products that do not meet with these regulations.
• Your stall must be staffed at all times throughout the day, the market manager will be happy to cover you for any reason.
• If you are bringing your own gazebo it must be of a market-grade quality with suitable weights for the weather conditions. If the market manager decides that your set-up isn’t safe you will be asked to remove your stall.
• Loading and unloading locations will be advised by the market manager ahead of the event. Please make sure you display any permits that are issued ahead of time clearly to avoid issues with the council’s parking team.
• Food and liquid waste must be taken home with you and your pitch must be left clean and tidy after you leave please.
• Smoking is not permitted inside stalls or in the market area.
• If you are using electric or gas then it must meet the relevant safety checks: annual PAT testing, annual gas safe engineer tested - your risk assessment must be sent to the market manager ahead of the market.
Food Hygiene
Please visit your local authority food safety team for full advice or visit www.food.gov.uk for full food safety outlines.
• We ask that your stall is organised in a way which protects food from environmental conditions such as dust, sunlight etc and the general public.
• If food is unwrapped please ensure you are always wearing gloves when handling.
• Samples must also be protected and stored out of the reach of animals and young children. To prevent customers contaminating samples, disposable spoons, cocktail sticks etc. must be used.
